"The future office building" is facing an uncertain future

The planned super office hotel in Bredgade, in the heart of historic Frederikstad, meets local resistance. Building and Technology Mayor has yet to comment on a planned protest by local residents.

It has been called the office of the future and there is no shortage of fine words and euphoric slogans in the material from the English-Chinese PBL Group, bragging about the hyper modern office space with unobstructed view of Amalienborg Castle Square and the Opera.  While this may resonate with the many visionary businessmen already signing up to rent space, perhaps the developer has underestimated the local population's attachment to the existing building and its current occupants? For almost two decades an advertising agency has occupied the building and created a close relationship with the street's residents and guests, with entertaining with innovative window exhibitions.

While protests are growing and a local demonstration is scheduled for 20 December, the municipality of Copenhagen is expected to continue to remain silent. We follow the case.

Our heritage

Streetwise

During our seventeen years as a resident in Bredgade we have been using our street level windows to entertain, inform and sometimes even challenge our fellow residents to think about serious…and not so serious issues.
